Sossusvlei Namibia is one of Namibia’s Biggest attraction, set within the Namib-Naukluft National Park , and is situated in the Southern region of the Namib Desert, the oldest desert in the world. Sossusvlei is a salt and clay pan that is fed by the Tsauchab river that flows through the valley every 5 to 10 years. An ancient land of mystery and intrigue, a calm stillness envelops the landscape, with rolling red dunes as far as the eye can see. The eerie Dead Vlei in the surrounding region is so called due to the ancient remains of perfectly preserved trees dotting the peculiar landscape. With an intense lack of moisture, it has not been possible for normal decomposition to occur, and the long dead trees have remained unchanged for centuries. With surrounds like these it is easy to see why the terrain has attracted such significant attention, it is a favourite desert retreat for romantics and explorers alike.
