The Silo & The Zeitz MOCAA
About The Silo Hotel
Built in the grain elevator portion of the historic grain silo complex that occupies the six floors above Zeitz MOCAA (Museum of Contemporary Art Africa). The exterior of the building was designed by Thomas Heatherwick, of London-based Heatherwick Studio. From the outside, the greatest visible change to the building’s original structure is the addition of the ingenious glass windows inserted into the geometry of the hotel floors. These multi-faceted windows bulge outward as if gently inflated, as if to mimic a full sack of grain. By night, these incredible windows transform the building into a glowing beacon in the Table Bay harbour. The Silo Hotel is a celebration of art, style, architecture and design. A tribute to timeless glamour and contemporary luxury.
The Silo Hotel Accommodation
The Silo Hotel has 28 rooms, and a one bedroom penthouse. Each room has been individually designed and decorated by the stylish wand of Liz Biden. Each is like a luxury two-bedroom apartment in the heart of Cape Town with a vast downstairs living room, dining room and cloakroom. Upstairs are two en-suite bedrooms – one master bedroom and one children’s bedroom.
