Set in Grumeti Game Reserve in northern Tanzania, Singita Faru Faru Lodge is part of the Serengeti Mara ecosystem in East Africa. Built on a hill, the lodge is set next to a river and showcases vast views of the plains beyond. It’s a place of wide spaces, big cats and the classic African safari experience most dream of. Guests also visit to bear witness to the 400,000 wildebeest who migrate through the reserve.
About Singita Faru Faru Lodge
This quirky, intimate and luxurious lodge makes guests feel welcome immediately. Tanzania is most famous for the Serengeti and the Great Migration of zebra and wildebeest – and it can get busy with crowds of tourists. Singita Faru Faru Lodge let’s guest experience the Great Migration but away from the crowds.
Faru Faru is located in the private Grumeti Reserve in the western Serengeti and is home to Sasakwa and Sabora Tented Camp also owned by Singita. Because the reserve is private, the game vehicles you will see are only from the Singita properties. Here you are far from the tourist masses. It also means that guests can walk, do night drives and go horse riding.
While there’s no actual start and end to the migration it usually takes place in a 6-week period, starting when the calves are born, between the months of January and March. It’s hard to forecast where the Wildebeest Migration will take place – as each year it’s different – but generally, over the year, animals move from the southern-eastern plains of the Serengeti (November to March) through the western-central region to the north of the Serengeti National Park (May to October).
