About Mnemba Island
The island is 1.5 km wide (that’s less than a mile!) and guests can arrive by helicopter or from the Zanzibar International Airport – this is a 1.5-hour road trip followed by 10 – 15 minutes boat ride to the island. Mnemba Island only accommodates 24 guests at one time. This tropical island takes barefoot luxury to heart. Guests can relax and unwind, snorkel, swim, kayak and enjoy a massage on the beach.
The surrounding waters of the island are protecting sanctuaries for green turtles. The beautiful Humpback whales are commonly sighted in the waters as well as whale sharks and dolphins. Scuba divers can delight in the coral reef fish. But for those who prefer land under their feet, romantic dining under thatch roofs or on the beach can be organised. There’s also an on-site spa where guests can unwind.

Mnemba Island Accommodation
Guests can choose from 12 bandas (traditional huts) and two of these bandas can be linked together to make one family suite. There are private beach salas available – and there’s even WI-FI connectivity in each. With direct access to the beach, each banda at Mnemba Island Lodge creates the perfect atmosphere for a beach vacation. Take a siesta in your built-in barazas on the veranda or in your private beach salas that feature a traditional lounger that’s typical of Zanzibar. The bathrooms are opulent and uniquely decorated with huge glass-beaded shower curtains.
