The award-winning Mfuwe Lodge is perfect for visitors who want to experience Zambia’s wildlife in a luxurious surrounding. Situated in Luangwa Valley, just five minutes away from the park’s main gates, the lodge is famous for its herds of hippo, elephant and buffalo as well as being home to all the big cats (i.e. predators). Walking safaris originated in this area and guests can participate in this with qualified guides.
Luangwa is a magical place. Set underneath ebony and mahogany trees, the lodge is built of thatch and endemic wood, melting into the bush surroundings. Outside, there’s an open deck and a swimming pool as well as a lagoon that’s always visited by wild animals. There’s also a curio shop for those who want to buy a few mementoes or drop by the spa for a relaxing massage.

The lodge deck has a swimming pool which looks over a small river that feeds a lagoon. With an airy design, the lodge mixes natural elements and modern furnishings into one space. The lodge itself is built on palm tree poles and has a thatch roof. Spend your days on game drives, relaxing on the deck with a gin & tonic, taking a dip in the swimming pool or having a massage at the on-site spa.
Guests at Mfuwe Lodge in South Luangwa can choose from 18 air-conditioned chalets. Each room is ensuite and has a private veranda, overlooking either the lagoon or the hippo pool. The room types are as follows:
