Nestled in amongst the lush flora of the Mara North Conservancy in Masai Mara, Karen Blixen Camp showcases a vast array of spectacular wildlife. Resident hippos wallow in the river running through your front garden, while elephants, eland, zebras and buffalo graze along the Oloololo Escarpment.

About Karen Blixen Camp

Karen Blixen Camp snuggles up alongside the Mara River, gazing directly upon the wildlife drinking at their favourite spot. The camp itself evokes the spirit of a bygone era of indulgence – even including reproductions of Karen Blixen’s private furniture.

A pod of hippos have taken up residency in the river opposite the main lounge – so guests can enjoy a drink before dinner while watching the animals basking in their natural habitat.

Between game drives, guests can cool down and relax amongst the Acacia and Olive trees which surround the elegant swimming pool and comfortable sunbeds.

Karen Blixen Camp Accommodation

Karen Blixen Camp consists of 22 large luxury canvas tents – 19 of which rest along the river bank. The remaining three are on raised platforms to provide unparalleled views of the Mara River and Oloololo Escarpment.

Each tent has a large bed, and can be altered for double or twin occupancy. Additional beds can be arranged beforehand as well for children under twelve. Or alternatively, there is a family unit of two tents which share a verandah.

Guests can enjoy a hot shower under the African skies in their private, stone-walled outdoor shower. The en-suite bathroom also includes a flush toilet and twin hand-basins.

The sense of luxury is enhanced by Persian rugs and cosy armchairs that complete the room. And if you’re craving a little extra indulgence, there’s always the option of a siesta on the cushioned daybed outside on your shaded verandah.
