Named after Colonel Stephenson Hamilton, who was pivotal in creating the Kruger National Park, Hamilton’s Tented Camp is a reflection of the tenacious adventurers who explored the region in the early 1800’s. There is a somewhat raw and colonial inspiration behind Hamilton’s that creates a very authentic destination. Set amongst ancient Jackalberry trees, this is a truly ”Out Of Africa” experience that exudes style and elegance.

Six luxury tents make this Camp very exclusive indeed. Each tent is complete with teak floor boards and walk ways that run all the way back to the main lodge. Cosily and comfortably furnished, each tent has its own private outdoor shower and slipper baths, as well as superbly appointed views over the seasonal riverbed – an ideal location form which to spot the free roaming game. All the tents have their own private teak patio decks from which to sit, relax, regale over the sights in the African landscape and inhale the smells of the bush. The chef is very attentive and has an eye for detail. The cuisine served takes in both a local flavour with the use of game meats as well as a more contemporary touch.

Game Drives at Hamiltons Tented Camp

Game drives are taken twice daily with an experienced ranger, first thing in the morning for 2-3 hours, and then late afternoon/early evening for another 2-3 hours. During the drive a stop will be made for refreshments and sun-downers at sunset. You will almost certainly see the Big Five (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard), although the leopard is the most illusive of the five.
