About Giraffe Manor

Owned by The Safari Collection, Giraffe Manor is an exclusive boutique hotel in an outer suburb of Nairobi next to the Nairobi National Park. Set on 12 acres of land, the hotel is most famous for its herd of resident Rothschild’s giraffes who visit the stately building in the mornings and evenings. Guests can feed the giraffes who poke their heads into the windows, hoping for a special treat.

The building itself is from the 1930s and is an ode to the time when European visitors first visited East Africa to enjoy safaris. It feels like walking onto a set for “Out of Africa”. With 6 double rooms, the boutique hotel caters for guests who prefer an intimate atmosphere and an out-of-this-world experience.

Dining is very special at the Giraffe Manor. Guests can enjoy breakfast in the elegant sunroom whose massive windows open onto the gardens. The giraffes come and poke their heads in to see if they get any snacks. You get special food to feed them and the staff is always on stand-by as the animals are used to humans but not completely tame. Dinner, on the other hand, is an elegant event and hosted in the drawing room by the fire.

Elegance is the name of the game here – and guests can choose from Superior Rooms, Suites or the Karen Blixen Suite, which is perfect for families. This room also has access to the courtyard that opens into the giraffe sanctuary. Kids will love it! Each room design pays homage to the manor house’s 1930’s décor and has a charm from that era.

There are only 12 rooms/suites available and so the atmosphere always feels intimate and private. You won’t feel as if there are masses of tourists staying with you! The rooms feature a large 4-poster bed and an ensuite bathroom with a shower and tub. Furniture fits into the 1930s style but there are also modern pieces.
