Art Collection

Ellerman House has its own fine art collection with a grand assortment of works that has been assembled over three decades, and features a uniquely South African twist. The originals span over a century, from the 1910 Volschenk of an undeveloped Camps Bay, to contemporary works from Vusi Khumalo.  Originally Cape paintings were the focus, the scope expanding with the collection, which now encompasses an intriguing cross-section of genres representing a hundred years of South African culture. December 2009 marked the birth of Ellerman House Contemporary, a modern art gallery created to delight guests with South African artists an ever-evolving collection that is rotated every season and guests staying at Ellerman House are invited to take the Ellerman House Art Tour.

Private Wine Cellar

The Ellerman House wine cellar holds over 7,500 unique South African wines, sourced from throughout the Cape of Good Hope. Private wine tastings and recommended dinner pairings can be arranged by the sommelier, Manuel Cabello. The selection is designed to encourage verticals of various vintages, from various producers, whereby guests sample and compare different vintages of the same wine.  By using the innovative ‘Verre de Vin’ preservation system in their state-of-the-art cellar, where they pour these exceptional wines at the perfect temperature and never compromise the serving quality. Fittingly, the wine list at Ellerman House has been honored with the Diners Club Wine List’s Diamond Award; the highest wine list accolade available in South Africa.
