You will start your holiday in Durban, South Africa’s ‘second’ tourist capital city.  Umhlanga Rocks is Durban’s posh coastal surburb! It’s a great place from which to explore the city whilst feeling totally on vacation at the same time. Perfectly situated on the ocean’s edge, the Oyster Box Hotel is conveniently located for quick and easy access to Durban City Centre, International Airports and numerous stylish shopping centers are abundant, and yet it has a feeling of classical charm and elegance.

Then on to a real little gem, Cleopatra’s Mountain Farmhouse, nestled in the foothills of the mighty Drakensberg mountains. After Cleopatra’s you will travel on to the world famous Zulu battlefields of Rorkes Drift and Isaldwana to stay at the late David Rattray’s wonderful lodge, Fugitives Drift. The spectacular Fugitives’ Drift property, a Natural Heritage Site, overlooks both Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift, and encompasses a land rich with heritage.

After Fugitives Drift, you will drive on towards a very speical Safari experience at Phinda Game Reserve. Fringing the Reserve’s unique vlei (wetland) system along the edge of the rare sand forest, the sophisticated Phinda Vlei Lodge is intimately integrated into the surrounding African bush.  Gracious and elegant, this charming lodge comprises six thatched suites decorated in a subtle blend of North and West African styles, with hints of Balinese influences. Each suite, complete with luxurious en suite bathroom, dressing room, private plunge pool and game viewing deck, overlooks the grassy vlei where guests can observe herds of grazing antelope, zebra and a dazzling variety of birdlife.

Finally, you will fly westwards towards Cape Town and the lovely Cape Grace Hotel to end your trip.  The Cape Grace is situated in the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and is within a hop, skip and a jump from a host of activities. Itinerary

Day 1: ORT International Airport (Johannesburg) and connect on a flight to King Shaka Airport (Durban).  On arrival in Durban you will collect your Avis car hire and drive 15 minutes to The Oyster Box Boutique Hotel  5 star Umhlanga Rocks for 2 nights. (BB)

Day 3: Depart Umhlanga Rocks and drive 2-3 hours to the Drakensberg Mountains area of Kwazulu Natal to Cleopatra’s Mountain Farmhouse 5 star for 2 nights.. Day 5: Depart Cleopatra’s Mountain Farmhouse 5 star and drive 3 – 4 hours to Fugitive’s Drift 5 star in  Rorke’s Drift, where you will stay for 2 nights.  This is the Battlefield area of many a famous battle between the Boers and the British.

Day 7: Depart Fugitive’s Drift 5 star Rorke’s Drift and drive 2 – 3 hours to Phinda Private Game Reserve where you will stay at Vlei Lodge 5 star for 2 nights.
