Starting off in Cape Town of course, staying at the world-famous Cape Grace hotel at the V&A Waterfront.  Whilst in Cape Town, you will see all the important sites – Robben Island, Table Mountain, the Penguins at Boulders beach, the Cape of Good Hope and a few wineries of Constantia.

Then on to the beautiful Mont Rochelle hotel in Franschhoek, the culinary heart of the Cape where you will wine and dine like kings! You will also be treated to a very special day out wine tasting with Richard Hilton, Greatest Africa’s very own founder and MD.  With over 20 years of experience in the wine industry, Richard will show you a side to the Cape Winelands that you wont experience anywhere else.

Next you will travel to Hermanus, the whale watching capital of South Africa, staying at the Marine hotel which sits right on the cliff edge above the bay.  If you travel between June and November you will most definitely see some whales, if travelling Dec – May then you probably will – but we can’t guarantee it!  Hermanus in itself is a quaint coastal town, with a long sandy beach and many great restaurants.  Not to mention a burgeoning wine industry with some of the top wine producers today in South Africa.

Finally – the cherry on the top – you will travel into the Cape bushveld where you will stay in luxury tented accommodation at Sanbona Wildlife Reserve.  Sanbona is a stunning private game reserve, home to the Big 5 but also the very rare white lion species.  2 nights on safari here at the end is the perfect way to end your 11 day holiday in the Cape, ‘The Greatest Cape’.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Cape Town International Airport where you will pick up your Avis rental car and drive to The Cape Grace Hotel 5* for a 4 night stay. The Cape Grace Hotel is situated in the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. (BB)

Day 2: Take a cable car ride up Table Mountain and thereafter head back to the V&A Waterfront to the Robben Island ferry office to book a boat cruise to Robben Island (place of Nelson Mandela’s incarceration for 27 years).

Day 3: Tour the Cape Peninsula over Chapman’s Peak to the Cape of Good Hope, stopping off at Boulder’s Beach to visit the African Penguin colony at Boulders Beach, before enjoying a lovely seafood lunch overlooking the Indian Ocean.

Day 4: Take a trip from the V&A Waterfront on the Red Double Decker Hop-on, Hop-off Bus to Groot Constantia Wine Estate and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens for lunch at the Silvertree Restaurant in the Gardens.

Day 5: Drive from Cape Town through the historic town of Stellenbosch to Franschhoek, to enjoy 2 nights at Mont Rochelle Hotel & Mountain Vineyards 5* overlooking the picturesque town of Franschhoek. Franschhoek is the culinary capital of South African and boasts a plethora of great restaurants, in addition to being surrounded by top wine estates in the area. (BB)

Day 6: Private Full Day Winelands Tour with Richard Hilton MD of GREATEST AFRICA. Richard Hilton has over 20 years of experience in the wine industry and will escort you to 3/ 4 wine producers unveiling 350 years of wine history in the Cape and making the day insightful, educational and fun. Pick up 9am from Mont Rochelle Hotel & Mountain Vineyards, drop off at 5pm.

Day 7: Depart Franschhoek and drive to the town of Hermanus and The Marine Hotel 5* for 2 nights, overlooking the ocean and perched on the cliffs of Hermanus. Between the months of May and September this is the ideal whale watching time. (BB)

Day 9: Depart Hermanus and drive to Sanbona Wildlife Reserve to enjoy 2 nights at Dwyka Tented Lodge 5*. (FB)

Day 11: Depart Sanbona Wildlife Reserve and drive back to Cape Town International Airport for your flight back home.
