Damaraland is a mountainous region that hugs the coastline of Namibia and extends into the vast desert inland. This barren landscape is home to wildlife, such as rhino, zebra, elephant and lion, that’s had to adapt to the harsh climate. Namibia’s highest mountain, Brandberg, is found here. It’s a highlight for photographers and travellers who are interested in Namibia’s ancient rock paintings – like the White Lady. The Petrified Forest is another highlight, with its enormous fossilised trees, as well as the rock formations of Twyfelfontein.
